pdx.pm gets a new Josh

If the lack of journal entries doesn't make this clear enough, I've been at least a little busy.

  • Writing a three-platform Wx e-book reader.
  • Going to OSCON.
  • Trying to resolve (in the general case) circular dependencies in Module::Build (without requiring dependencies to please depend on EU::MM (huh?)).
  • Taking a trip with my wife (and delivering her to Clarion while providing remote tech-support for a neglected, aging laptop with a too-old wireless stack.)
  • Being the new Josh for the Portland Perl Mongers (and cooking-up some sweet shirts)

So, leading a Perl Mongers group isn't all hot chicks and free beer. But it's not so much like pulling-teeth-with-hair as trying to build Wx (or really: anything from source) on VVindows.

And, the ladies look really good in the pdx.pm shirts. But I underestimated the number of girls that would want one. That's bad because it means there are people lacking shirts, but good because it means hot chicks dig perl.

As for fearlessly leading some mongers of Perl: it ain't easy (between Ovid, Joshua, and Josh, I've got three pair of big shoes to fill), but it's fun!

Somewhere in the podcasts and the new meeting formats -- like hackfests, code reviews, round tables, and all-night dance parties -- we'll be taking this geek-meet to a whole new level!
